What Does Vitamin C Do?
Vitamin C assists with regenerating the body’s tissues and is essential for slowing the aging process. Vitamin C also protects against free radical formation that can be associated with heart disease and some types of cancers.
Vitamin C also helps tremendously with the body’s immune system and improves the body’s ability to fight viruses and infections. It may also help to decrease bad cholesterol in the body and prevent cataracts.
Dosing Vitamin C:
According to the National Institutes of Health the recommended dosing for adults is approximately 100mg per day. Breastfeeding women and smokers require higher dosing. Often times the dosages that we recommend are much higher than 100mg however we use blood testing to determine if a higher dose is needed. Some patients require much higher dosages of Vitamin C due to their health and absorption.
