The Anderson Longevity Clinic has been helping people live their best lives for more than 12 years using innovative, state-of-the-art treatment methods like prolotherapy.
WHAT IS PROLOTHERAPY?
Prolotherapy has been defined by Webster’s International Dictionary as “the rehabilitation of an incomplete structure, such as a ligament or tendon, by the induced proliferation of new cells.” It is a safe injection technique that stimulates your body’s own healing mechanisms to grow new ligament and tendon tissue. In many cases, it provides a permanent cure for many chronic, painful conditions without the risk of surgery or drugs.
WHAT CONDITIONS CAN BE TREATED WITH PROLOTHERAPY?
Back pain
Shoulder pain
Knee pain
Elbow pain
Arthritis pain
Headaches
Sciatica
Tendonitis
Sports injury pain
And more

PROLOTHERAPY TREATS THE UNDERLYING CAUSE
Prolotherapy treats the root cause of tissue and joint pain. Ligaments and tendons normally function as strong bands of tissue that hold joints and muscle tissues in place. Pain is often due to weakness in these structures.
Weakness in ligaments and tendons produce joint pain and instability. There are nerve fibers embedded in your ligaments and tendons that fire a pain signal when those structures are damaged or loose. Prolotherapy relieves the pain by strengthening damaged tissues and ligaments.
“A joint is only as strong as its weakest ligament.” – George S. Hackett, M.D.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Prolotherapy usually involves the injection of dextrose and lidocaine into the injured tissue. It prompts healing in ligaments, tendons, and cartilage by triggering your body’s own acute injury system to heal damaged tissues and increase blood supply, which is vital to the body’s healing process. Repetitive injury and age can promote scar tissue, limiting blood supply. Prolotherapy can bring vital blood and growth factors to the injured tissues.
CONFIRMED BY RESEARCH
An early prolotherapy pioneer, George S. Hackett, M.D., conducted and published research in the 1950s demonstrating that 82 percent of the 656 sampled patients who had prolotherapy treatment considered themselves cured when contacted 12 years later. Additional research performed by Y. K. Liu, Ph.D., in the 1980s demonstrated that prolotherapy treatment increased ligament mass, ligament thickness, and ligament-bone strength by up to 28 percent. Current research continues to show the effectiveness of prolotherapy treatment today.
Numerous Olympic and professional athletes use advanced prolotherapy to help them get them back in the game faster. Although this treatment is not widely advertised due to its lack of availability, we offer prolotherapy treatment here at the Anderson Longevity Clinic because it is highly effective.
U.S. SURGEON GENERAL APPROVED
Prolotherapy is so effective that a former U.S. Surgeon General used it to treat his own health difficulties. C. Everett Koop, M.D., was the U.S. Surgeon General under President Ronald Reagan, and he reported that prolotherapy saved him from debilitating chronic pain in his shoulder and upper extremity. He had access to the best medical care in the world, however, he pain so severe that he had difficulty even moving his arm to reach for his wallet. Finally, he met a physician that performed prolotherapy on him and relieved him from chronic pain. Since his treatment, he has written many papers praising prolotherapy.
