Luckily, we have found other alternative and holistic treatments that are SAFE and EFFECTIVE and have been used for over 15-20 years to successfully address all types of pain. Dr. Moon has been lucky enough to have treated numerous patients with success in our clinic and is sharing this more with those who feel they have exhausted all options. This specialized treatment, called Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT), can address chronic soft tissue pain, joint pain, as well as nerve/neuropathic type pain.
Perineural Injection Therapy FAQ
What is perineural injection therapy?
Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT) is a specialized injection treatment that was developed by Dr. John Lyftogt of New Zealand. Unresolving pain can be due to an injured and non-healing sensory nerve that causes inflammation and delay of healing that can manifest and tight muscles, painful joints and soft tissue pain.
The treatment consists of a series of small injections targeting the painful and sensitive nerves with natural substances. NO STEROIDS or ANESTHETIC is used! Using a form of dextrose solution allows the treatment to help extinguish pain that is often felt immediately even with the first treatment. Repeat treatments are needed however pain is usually steadily reduced over the course of treatments allowing for return of function.
The average number of treatments required for most conditions varies however many notice significant decline in pain (most with over 80% relief) over the course of 3-5 treatments with the results long lasting depending on the condition.
Treatments are completely safe with rare complications. No allergic reactions have been observed!
How does it work?
When sensory nerves are injured they can cause nerve pain or neuralgias commonly felt as chronic pain. The thought process for Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT) and the working theory behind its success is that sensory nerves are thought to be effected by glucose and when these glucose levels are low, which can be caused by injury or insult to the nerve, then pain can be felt. If the normal balance is not restored to the sensory nerve, then pain persists. With PIT, perineural glucose levels are restored, neurogenic inflammation is reduced allowing for sensation of pain to be eliminated...and when your pain is gone, you can get back to living!!
Perineural Therapy along with other Regenerative Orthopedics (Platelet Rich Plasma - PRP) is a holistic and nonsurgical approach that delivers a purposeful and controlled treatment injections to help stimulate the healing cascade in our bodies resulting in reduced pain and better stability!
